About Rigging Lab Academy
“For over two decades, we have guided officers, chiefs, directors, and program leaders through the complexity of technical rope rescue—building systems, developing capability, and strengthening operational readiness. Like many, this work began from a place of uncertainty—recognizing the need for clarity, structure, and a better way forward.”
“Early in this process, trusted peers and mentors helped bring clarity to the complexity of rigging and rescue systems. From that foundation, a structured approach emerged—one that continues to guide the development of our training, systems, and operational frameworks.”

PROVEN INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP
STRUCTURED KNOWLEDGE SYSTEM
25,000 + ENROLLMENTS
Many agencies across fire service, law enforcement, Search and Rescue, and industry face persistent challenges—limited resources, internal friction, inconsistent training standards, and a lack of clear system alignment. These conditions make it difficult to build programs that are both effective and sustainable.
We understand that environment. More importantly, we have spent decades working within it—refining a structured approach to training and system development that reduces uncertainty and improves performance.
Today, that work exists as the foundation of Rigging Lab Academy. Through CORE, users gain access to a fully developed knowledge system—spanning foundational instruction, video-based learning, study guides, technical reports, and reference materials.
Building on that foundation, the Accelerator extends capability further—supporting analysis, system evaluation, and decision-making through structured reasoning.
Together, CORE and the Accelerator provide a complete framework: not just for learning, but for understanding how systems behave, how decisions impact outcomes, and how teams develop consistent, repeatable performance.
Access is immediate and flexible, allowing individuals and teams to train, study, and apply concepts within the realities of their operational environment.
Rigging Lab Academy is not built around isolated courses—it is designed as a system that supports long-term capability, clarity, and operational readiness.
Meet Lance
CEO & Founder of Rigging Lab Academy and Rescue Response Gear
Lance Piatt is the founder of Rigging Lab @ Rescue Response Gear, an integrated platform that unifies equipment, training, and system-based knowledge for technical rope rescue and rigging professionals.
With over two decades of experience in the field, his work has focused on solving a persistent problem within the industry: the disconnect between gear, training, and real-world system performance.
Through Rescue Response Gear, Lance built a trusted platform for mission-critical equipment—supporting fire service, search and rescue teams, and industrial operations with reliable tools for demanding environments. But the limitations of gear alone became clear. Equipment does not create capability—understanding systems does.
This realization led to the development of Rigging Lab Academy, now established as the CORE knowledge system within the platform. RLA provides structured, system-based training across foundational domains, video libraries, study guides, and technical reports—designed to develop not just skill, but true operational understanding.
Building on this foundation, the Accelerator extends the platform further—supporting analysis, system evaluation, and decision-making through structured reasoning. It allows users to move beyond content consumption and into applied thinking, where system behavior, force interaction, and operational constraints can be evaluated with clarity.
Together, these components form a single, unified system:
Rigging Lab @ Rescue Response Gear
A platform where equipment, training, and system-level reasoning are aligned to support real-world performance.
Lance’s work is defined by a commitment to clarity, structure, and practical application—helping individuals and teams move beyond fragmented knowledge toward consistent, repeatable capability in the field.
